Layers: The background image is a spot on our property - accessible to humans only in the winter months when the ground is frozen. The bubble image is one that I took in our living room (having pushed all of the furniture out of the way so it didn’t show in the reflection; what does show are the living room windows). The dreamy shape in the bubble is a Phoenix Oyster mushroom, the first successful fruit in our mushroom experiments, which took a year from innoculation to growth. After photographing it, we ate it for dinner that night. The sparkles are sunlight reflecting off the water in Bear River, NS, where we went to visit my mom in the fall of 2025. The clouds are a view from an airplane, during a flight to NS 7 years previous. There are flakes of imitation gold applied to the finished piece, in between coats of varnish.
