Layers: The background image is a post-blizzard view at a friend’s cottage in February of 2020. We didn’t know at the time that it would be one of our last chances to hang out with friends over the coming year of pandemic lock-downs. The bubble images are ones that I took in our living room (having pushed all of the furniture out of the way so it didn’t show in the reflection; what does show are the living room windows). Within some of the bubbles are parts of a metal bird garden sculpture that I photographed during an artist residency on Toronto Island in the spring of 2025. The sparkles are sunlight reflecting off the water in Bear River, NS, where we went to visit my mom in the fall of 2025. There are flakes of imitation gold applied to the finished piece, in between coats of varnish.
