New Artwork!

For the first time in about a decade, I decided to create a whole series that was mounted on colourfully painted panels, and I’ve made most of the pieces round. I’m super-excited to see how they all look displayed together in my booth this weekend!

And here I am, applying protective varnish onto the finished pieces!

This series has grown - literally - out of my joy in creating the gardens at our new home in the country. I’ve loved picking what to plant, and then watching it go through all the phases from tiny seedling to stunning bloom or delicious edible crop. Many of the seeds are started indoors in February or March, and then change so much between then and when they start to fall apart just before the winter returns. Between time spent planting, watering, weeding, harvesting, and preserving, I did a lot of photographing!

Unlike most of my artwork, these images do not contain any photographic layers - I decided that I wanted this work to be simple, bold, joyful. A celebration of colour and life in all it’s many stages. Something that struck me is how much more visually interesting certain flowers and leaves become as they age. Many of my images, including the biggest piece of this series, were taken in October when the colours and textures became so rich just before their final fade. I also included seeds, because of the simple beauty of the hope for the future that they represent. Seed saving and sharing has been such a fun part of learning how to garden!

Because of the sheer quantity of new pieces (this is the largest series I’ve created since 2019!), the smaller ones won’t be available through my online shop immediately and it may take a little while before even the larger ones are listed there. If something has caught your eye, shoot me a quick email and I’ll let you know if it’s still available!
