Roslyn & Hilary's Romantic New Year's Eve Wedding

Roslyn & Hilary first met when they were in elementary school in Regina. Years passed, they both left Saskatchewan and set off on their separate paths to adulthood. Thirteen years later they reconnected and sparks flew - Hilary drove all the way to Miami to visit Roslyn, and they've never looked back :)
Back in the fall when we photographed Ros & Hil for their engagement session I couldn't help thinking that time spent with the two of them was a lesson in absolute romance. They have the kind of relationship where they don't feel silly dancing in front of a photographer in the middle of a busy neighbourhood, because when they look at each other they don't see all the other people around them. When I first spoke to Roslyn, she told me that they were both "ecstatic" to be getting married to each other. Even if she hadn't told me that, the looks they shared all day on their wedding day made it the most obvious thing in the world :)

It was really important to them both to have a intimate and personal feel to their day, and part of that was their careful selection of local vendors and designers to take care of all the little details - starting with the very talented Michelle Carey who designed Roslyn's wedding gown..
(I fell in love with Roslyn's shoes - totally classy and sexy all at once!)
As Hilary said later, Roslyn's lashes looked "super-hot" :) I love how radiant she looks putting her earrings on..
Seriously - wow.
I'll admit that men's shoes are not something I normally notice, but I loved the patent-leather shine on these babies!
On the day of their wedding, Roslyn sent Hilary cuff links made by awesome local jeweller Curious Oddities with material from Roslyn's gown - not only did they look awesome but Hilary loved the thought behind it!
The bride and groom and their immediate families all stayed at One King West, which was the perfect place to shoot their "first look"..
We had so much fun with this bridal party - Roslyn & her sister and Maid of Honour Carolyn couldn't stop laughing, and Hil and his Best Man Matthew were apparently "born ready" with their dance moves ;)
I loved this - while we already knew how madly in love Ros & Hil are with each other, when I was looking through the family photos I realized that it seems to run in both their families as well :)
We all then made the short trip to Liberty Village, to Mildred's Temple Kitchen where the ceremony and reception were taking place..
Roslyn plays the French horn professionally, so one of the lovely and personal touches was that she had a handful of friends who were fellow musicians play for the guests before and during the ceremony. Roslyn's wedding band was designed by amazing Toronto jeweller Andrea Apa - I love how the platinum band twists to fit in perfectly with the diamond on her engagement ring :)
Okay - for those of you who weren't there - Roslyn & Hilary said the most beautiful things to each other during their ceremony, and there wasn't a dry eye in the house. If you were there, you're probably getting teary again just seeing the photos of it :)
Another lovely and personal touch - Hil's mom made the spicy jellies that all the guests took home to enjoy :) And how cute are the personalized M&Ms??
I loved the story behind this cake: not only does it have a fantastic Art Deco flair to honour the Miami style, but the base is actually the shape of a swimming pool in a Miami hotel from which the couple had fond memories :) After dinner, guests were treated to a great live band - The Key-Lites from Montreal.
One last bit of awesome-ness: sparklers :) It was New Year's Eve, after all!
Roslyn & Hilary - I loved your wedding. I can't think of a nicer way for us to have spent the last day of 2012.. The venues and details were thoughtfully planned and beautiful, your families and guests were all so sweet, and most of all you two were a pleasure to follow around with cameras :)  We wish you many years of excited, glowy, happiness together! Happy New Year!!
